The Toyota Tundra is a full-size pickup truck introduced by Toyota in the 1999 for the 2000 model year. It was widely considered to be the first full-size import-brand truck built with an American look and feel and a refined V8 engine. The Tundra was eventually nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award and was Motor Trend magazine's Truck of the Year in 2000 and 2008. Currently the Tundra is assembled in San Antonio, Texas where production was consolidated in 2008.

The first generation Tundra had many similarities with the older Toyota T100 and the compact Toyota Tacoma. The biggest of those similarities was the shared use of a 3.4-liter V6 engine which was the top of the line engine in both the Tacoma and T100. The V6 engine would serve as the base engine for the Tundra, while a second powerplant, a first for a Toyota truck, a V8 engine sized at 4.7-liters was added to the lineup. Car of The Month - Dodge Challenger

The Dodge Challenger is the name of three different generations of automobiles marketed by the Dodge division of Chrysler.

The first generation Dodge Challenger was a pony car built from 1970 to 1974, using the Chrysler E platform and sharing major components with thePlymouth Barracuda. The second generation, from 1978 to 1983, was a badge engineered Mitsubishi Galant Lambda. The third, and current generation, was introduced in 2008 as a rival to the evolved fifth generation Ford Mustang and the reintroduced fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro.

For 2010, the vehicle cost $515 to $1,010 more than in 2009.^[18] The color, HEMI Orange, was initially dropped for the 2010 model year, then re-released later in the model year. Two new color schemes became available for the 2010 model year; Plum Crazy and Detonator Yellow.^[19] A third new color, Furious Fuchsia was announced in February 2010.^[20] But unlike previous special editions, the Furious Fuchsia version had significant changes to the interior with white leather instead of the usual black seats. Chrysler also made a late-year addition to the 2010 model year with the limited edition Mopar '10 Challenger R/T. These cars, limited to only 500 examples, were metallic pearl black in color with three accent colors (blue, red, silver) of stripes to choose from. In addition, these cars were available with black R/T Classic-style rims along with a Hurst aftermarket pistol grip shifter, custom badging, Mopar cold air intake for a 10 horsepower increase, and Katzkin-sourced aftermarket interior. Units were built in Brampton, Ontario at the Brampton Assembly Plant and completed at the Mopar Upfit Center in Windsor, Ontario. There were 500 U.S. Units and 100 Canadian units built.

Of the 500 Mopar special edition U.S. examples, 320 had automatic transmissions, 180 had manuals. 255 had blue stripes, 115 had red stripes, and 130 had silver stripes. Out of the 255 with blue stripes, 160 were automatics and 95 were manuals. Out of the 115 with red stripes, 74 were automatics and 41 were manuals. Out of the 130 with silver stripes, 86 were automatics and 44 were manuals.

Car of The Month - Nissan Altima

The Nissan Altima is a mid-size automobile manufactured by Nissan, and is arguably a continuation of the Nissan Bluebird line, which began in 1957. It has historically been larger, more powerful, and more luxurious than the Nissan Sentra but less so than the Nissan Maxima. The Altima is available in North America as well as other markets. Nissan sells a related mid-size sedan called the Nissan Teana, built on the same FF-L platform used by the 2002–2006 Nissan Altima. The name "Altima" originally referred to a trim line of the Nissan Laurel mid-size car sold in Central America and the Caribbean before 1992. In 1993, Nissan discontinued its much-criticized Stanza, replacing it with the US-made Altima, while remaining a compact car. The very first Altima rolled off the assembly line on June 15, 1992, as a 1993 model. All Altimas had been built in Smyrna, Tennessee, until June 2004, when Nissan's Canton, Mississippi, plant began producing additional Altimas to meet high demand. Car of The Week - Mazda CX7

The CX-7 is a mid-size crossover SUV model from Mazda, the production version of the MX-Crossport concept car. The CX-7 is built in Hiroshima, Japan, starting in early 2006. The CX-7 was shown publicly for the first time at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show in January. Production officially began on February 20 at Mazda's Ujina#2 factory in Hiroshima. The CX-7 went on sale in spring 2006 as a 2007 model. It is also Mazda's first mid-size SUV since the Navajo was discontinued in 1994.
Though outwardly similar, the CX-7 and the Mazda CX-9 do not share platforms.^[1] The CX-7 shares the front suspension of the Mazda MPV minivan and the rear suspension from the Mazda5. It shares its turbocharged engine with the Mazdaspeed6 and uses a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Lexus ES series is a family of mid-size luxury sedans sold by Lexus since 1989. Now in its fifth generation, the series has been consistently built on the Toyota Camry platform with a V6 engine, automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. For much of its existence, the Lexus ES has anchored the entry-level luxury car segment of the Lexus lineup in North America, a position it maintained until the introduction of the Lexus IS sport luxury sedans in 2001. Car of The Week - Saturn Sky

The Saturn Sky was the only roadster from the Saturn marque of American automaker General Motors, and was initially released in the first quarter of 2006 as a 2007 model. It uses the Kappa automobile platform shared with the Pontiac Solstice and Opel GT. The Sky concept was shown at the 2005 North American International Auto Show, with the production version following at the 2006 show. It was built at GM's Wilmington, Delaware plant, alongside the Solstice and the Opel GT. The Sky features 18 inch (457 mm) wheels and a 2.4 L Ecotec LE5 straight-4 engine that produces 177 hp (132 kW), a new straight-4 2.0 L direct injected engine that makes 260 hp (194 kW) as well as a turbocharged (dealer upgrade kit) version that makes 290 hp (216 kW). Both five-speed manual and automatic transmissions are available.
The styling for the Sky, penned by Franz von Holzhausen, is based on the Vauxhall VX Lightning Concept's design. It is available in some European markets as the Opel GT. A rebadged version named the Daewoo G2X was unveiled as a concept vehicle for the South Korean market in 2006. The production version was released in September 2007. The Solstice, Sky, and GT were built in Delaware, as was the G2X until 2008. The aggressive styling garnered praise as a welcome departure from traditional Saturn design. The F-Series is a series of full-size pickup trucks from Ford Motor Company sold for over six decades. The most popular variant of the F-Series is the F-150. It was the best-selling vehicle in the United States for 24 years and has been the best-selling truck for 34 years,^[1] though this does not include combined sales of GM pickup trucks.^[2] In the tenth generation of the F-series, the F-250 and F-350 changed body style in 1998 and joined the Super Duty series.

It's really not that difficult to keep your car in good shape. Here are the basics:
- Keep all the fluids (e.g. engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, etc.) clean and topped up.
- Follow your maintenance schedule, there is a number of things that need to be regularly serviced or replaced at certain intervals (e.g. brakes, air filter, timing belt, spark plugs, etc.)
- Check tire pressure regularly.
- Change you windshield wipers if they don't clean properly.
- Wash and wax your vehicle once in a while to keep the car finish shiny and protected from corrosion.
- Deal with any problems as soon as they arise, before they become more serious and require expensive repairs.
- At least once a year have your car check out at your dealer's service center.

The Toyota Camry mid-size automobiles manufactured by Toyota since 1982, and sold in the majority of automotive markets throughout the world. Between 1980 and 1982, the "Camry" nameplate was delegated to a four-door sedan, known as the Toyota Celica Camry.

The name "Camry" is an Anglicized phonetic transcription of the Japanese word kanmuri, meaning "crown".This follows Toyota's naming tradition of using the crown name for primary models starting with the Toyota Crown in 1955, continuing with the Toyota Corona and Corolla; the Latin words for "crown" and "small crown", respectively.

In the United States, the Camry has been regularly the best selling car for the last decade. The Camry also sells very well in Australia, Canada, and a number of Asian markets. Despite international success, the Camry has not sold as well in its home market Japan, or in Europe where sales ended in 2004.For the East and Southeast Asian markets, high-specification Camry models are seen as executive cars. Since the XV30 series, the Camrys sold in these markets have sported revised front- and rear-end treatment. For the 2006 onwards XV40 version, the same was done, although the Australian-designed and Camry-derived Toyota Aurion (XV40) was the donor model. The Chevrolet Impala is a full-size automobile built by the Chevrolet division of General Motors introduced for the 1958 model year. Deriving its name from the southern African antelope, Chevrolet's most expensive passenger model through 1965 had become the best-selling automobile in the United States, competing against the Ford Galaxie 500 and the Plymouth Fury when full-size models dominated the market. The Impala was distinguished for many years by its symmetrical triple taillights. The Toyota Matrix, sometimes officially referred to as the Toyota Corolla Matrix, is a compact hatchback manufactured by the Toyota Motor Corporation in Canada, to be sold in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It is considered to be the sporty wagon counterpart of the North American Corolla and is counted as a variant of it in Toyota's sales figures.

The Matrix is the Toyota version of a joint venture between Toyota and General Motors; the GM version being the Pontiac Vibe, which was assembled by New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. in Fremont, California. A third version, also assembled at NUMMI, was sold in Japan from 2002 to early 2004 as the Toyota Voltz. Almost 2000 cars were produced before production ceased.^[2] Although the Voltz was sold under the Toyota brand there, the vehicle had the same exterior as the Vibe.

Identical mechanically, and nearly as much internally, the Matrix and Vibe are clothed in different sheetmetal designed by their respective brands. Both vehicles are narrow, yet tall station wagons styled in a quasi-SUV fashion (called a crossover utility vehicle or "CUV" by Toyota) and marketed to a fairly youthful market segment.^[3] This type of car is also commonly referred to as a sport wagon.

The Ford Expedition is a full-size SUV built by the Ford Motor Company. Introduced in 1997 as a replacement to the Ford Bronco, it was previously slotted between the smaller Ford Explorer and the larger Ford Excursion, but as of the 2005 model year, it is Ford's largest and last truck-based, off-road and tow capable SUV. Ford currently offers the standard regular-sized model and the larger EL/Max model, succeeding the Excursion which was discontinued in 2005. It is the second Ford vehicle to use the Expedition name, as it was part of the Explorer Sport's trim models during the 1995 model year. All Expeditions were originally built in Wayne, Michigan. The Ford Fusion is a mid-size car produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 2006 model year. The 2010 model was awarded the Motor Trend Car of the Year^[2] and its hybrid version won the 2010 North American Car of the Year Award.^[3] The Fusion is manufactured at Ford's Hermosillo Stamping & Assembly plant in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, where the similar and now discontinued Mercury Milan and the Lincoln MKZ are also built.^[4] All three cars utilize the CD3 platform, which is, in fact, Mazda's current GG chassis as used for the Mazda6. Ford has used every evolution of the Mazda G platform since 1983. Production on the first Fusions began on August 1, 2005. Your car's air conditioning system

In order to understand how air conditioning works, it is necessary to understand several basic laws about the flow of heat. While it may seem puzzling to talk about heat in the same breath as air conditioning, heat is your only concern. An air conditioner does not cool the air, but rather removes the heat from a confined space.

The law of entropy states that all things must eventually come to the same temperature; there will always be a flow of heat between adjacent objects that are at different temperatures. When two objects at different temperatures are placed next to each other, heat will flow from the warmer of the two objects to the cooler one. The rate at which heat is transferred depends on how large the difference is between their temperatures. If the temperature difference is great, the transfer of heat will be great, and if the temperature difference lessens, the transfer of heat will be reduced until both objects reach the same temperature. At that point, heat transfer stops.

Because of entropy, the interior of an automobile tends to remain at approximately the same temperature as the outside air. To cool an automobile interior, you have to reverse the natural flow of heat, no matter how thoroughly insulated the compartment might be. The heat which the body metal and glass absorb from the outside must constantly be removed.

So... In easier to understand terms, the hotter the outside temperature, the harder your air conditioner has to work to keep the heat out. In Oklahoma we have some very hot days. The variance between outside temperature and the interior temperature of your automobile will vary based on humidity and other factors. Be sure and press the recirculate button on your A/C console if its super hot outside.

The Chevrolet TrailBlazer is an SUV that was produced by the Chevrolet division of American automaker General Motors. It was introduced in 1999 as an upscale trim line of the Blazer. In 2002, the TrailBlazer was upgraded to a new platform (GMT360 for 5 passenger models, GMT370 for 7 passenger, and GMT305 for the Envoy XUV). Production of the Blazer overlapped with the TrailBlazer until 2005, when the 2-door was sold at dealers while the 4-door was fleet only (until the 2004 model year). The 2-door Blazer was replaced by the Chevrolet Equinox after 2005. The Trailblazer / Envoy is by far the most popular SUV sold by Express Credit Auto over the last 5 years. We recently sat down with Shawn Richardson (Founder, Chairman and C.E.O. of Express Credit Auto) and Rich Barnard (President and C.O.O. of Express Credit Auto of Tulsa) to talk to them about Express Credit Auto's past, present and future plans! The answers we got were candid and revealing... and sometimes surprising. Take a look!

Where are you from, originally?

SR - I grew up in Choctaw, Oklahoma.
RB - I'm from Moore, Oklahoma.

What was the very first job you had?

SR - Brick laborer
RB - I swept and picked up trash at a local public auto auction, that's where Shawn and I met actually.

When was ECA founded and why? (Could be part of the above question, but I think it’s pertinent to note why ECA, specifically, was founded.)

SR - I had an opportunity to take over ECA from the original owner that was going out of business. I had another car lot in a bad part of town and this presented itself as an opportunity to get into a better location. We didn’t have a lot of money back then. So, I bought the Express Credit Auto name and signage, because it was cheaper than replacing it.

How has the car business changed since you first started ECA?

SR - The most powerful change in the car business has been the internet. The internet has completely changed the car business. Everything is done online. From buying inventory, business software, advertising, customer buying research and more.
RB - It has changed dramatically. It’s much more sophisticated now with the use of the internet on all levels. Supply, retail, customer interaction with social media… The list goes on. When we first got in the business, you hung your sign, advertised in the penny pincher or bargain post and that was it. Today you have to work harder to stay ahead of the competition on all fronts. I’d say dealers in general, not just ECA, are much better now than they were 15 years ago. More scrupulous, more customer service oriented. They have to be, the customer demands it and the competition dictates it.

What can a customer expect when doing business with Express Credit Auto?

RB - We talk about this a lot and here is our position. The customer can expect and more importantly deserves this from ECA. Professionalism in our attitude, aptitude, facility and appearance. They can expect to have their questions answered honestly and transparently. This seems simple, but in the used car business it’s the exception, not the rule. And they can expect a great value. Meaning they aren’t just -- or don’t always just purchase a car with the cheapest price tag. They will get personalized service and the loan, payments and down payment will be what we believe will be successful for them personally. Just because their credit score or income or job time doesn’t fit in a pre-determined box doesn’t mean we can’t make it work. Flexible financing for everyone is what we offer. Remember, we are financing most of these transactions and have done a lot of research to find out what it takes to make customers with sub-par credit scores successful in rebuilding their credit, self esteem and get out of the credit crunch they have gotten themselves into. If they let us assist them in following the plan and the program we believe they will succeed.

How is ECA different from other “buy here, pay here” dealerships?

SR - We focus on the customer’s needs and put the customer’s interest above our own.

What do you envision for the car business in 5-10 years?

SR - Continued vehicle quality from the manufacturers, more customer internet purchases and social media being a driving force to communicate to our customers.
RB - Great question. I think it will be advancing at a very rapid pace. Inventory is a concern for pre-owned dealers. For new car dealerships it’s better to have less supply from the manufacturer because that produces greater demand for what’s out there and allows them to operate leaner. I hope the credit markets open up a little on the top end and incentives and design of new cars push the manufacturer to make more cars so there will be more used cars hitting the wholesale market in years to come.

Do you have a favorite moment from ECA? An event or special customer?

SR - Opening up the I-240 and Santa Fe location. I-240 was our first successful launch of an additional location. Provided a lot of convenience for our customers from our small original location. Also provided a lot of growth and opportunity for ECA.
RB - Yes. About 8 years ago we approved a young, single mom that had never financed a car before when nobody else would. She came back 18 months later and bought another one from us as well. She was always happy and thankful for the opportunity… really appreciative and did her part. Paid payments on time, communicated with us if there was ever an issue, etc. One day she came to my office and said “Rich, I just wanted you to know I really appreciate all your help over the last few years. I wanted to let you know I traded in my car at the Chevrolet dealer and bought a new Equinox . My fiancee and I also just put up earnest money for a house. I’m so excited and I wanted you to know that ECA, by reporting my payments to the credit bureaus, has been a big part of this for me. My credit score now is 760.” Her name was Jennifer. I love that we can help folks in that way.

What do you think are the most important qualities a car dealership should have?

SR - Quality vehicles that are competitively priced, honesty and integrity.
RB - Good moral values, great people and a good presence in their community. They should also be fair and honest with their employees and customers.

What advice do you have (if any) for anyone who has bad credit but needs to buy a car?

The Chevrolet Avalanche is a four-door, five or six passenger sport utility truck sharing GM's long-wheelbase chassis used on the Chevrolet Suburban and Cadillac Escalade EXT. Unlike the typical pickup truck, the open bed of the Avalanche opens to the back seat area via a folding panel (marketed as a 'midgate') and removable rear window. A series of three removable panels form a watertight top for the cargo bed. Additional storage is provided behind each wheelwell, accessed by locking flip-top panels and usable as self-draining ice chests. (Isn't that a great idea!?)

The name Avalanche derives from the dangerous and sudden collapse of mountain snowpacks known as an avalanche.

Check and/or replace your wiper blades

Those blades took a beating over the winter so you’ll probably need a new set when the Oklahoma storms come rolling in. Make sure the blades are coming into contact with the windshield all along the shaft and check for chips and tears on the blades. If you get caught in the rain without properly functioning blades, it’s not going to be fun.

Clean the undercarriage

All that salt and sand will eat away at the moving parts and exposed metal under your car. Take her through the car wash and opt for the underbelly rinse – double it up for extra assurance! We like P&P Car Wash at 67th and Lewis.

Brake Check

The slipping and sliding around last winter might have caused some wear on your brake pads. Have your brakes checked and get them replaced if you need to. Better safe than sorry!

Check Your Tires

Winter weather can also give your tires a beating. Check for signs of wear on the tread and replace any that are worn. If you hit a pothole or two this winter, you may also need to have the alignment checked. Go ahead and have your tires rotated while you’re at it.

Check Your Coolant...

...and get a cooling system flush if you need it. A car that runs too hot or cold won’t get optimum gas mileage and could be damaged by the extreme temperatures. It sounds like a no-brainer but you’d be surprised how many people overlook this.

Spring Cleaning for the Interior

It never hurts to clean out the trash, wipe down the dash, and vacuum the floorboards. Get spring-cleaning out of the way and you’ll have a fresh car for spring. Pick up one of those nifty trash cans that hangs on the headrest for all of those Sonic straw wrappers. You know you love happy hour!

Paint Touch-Up
